It is about India. Black people are excluded (are separated / are segregated / are cast away / are put aside / are cut off) from the mainstream society because they have a different ethnicity (ethnic origin / root / identity). Because of their skin colour they face (live / are confronted with) hard (tough / harsh / difficult) experiences. India is a colour-coded (salad-bowl / pluri-ethic / multicultural) society.
Team work : Building a definition of multiculturalism Lecture de l’image Doc :  Multiculturalism
Team Kea elements Definition
Team 1 – culture – origins – colour Multiculturalism is when different people from different ethnic origin (ethnicity) with a different colour and a different culture live in the same country. But they live apart in their own community. People should recognize (acknowledge / accept) differences.
Team 2 – race – ethnicity – religion – gender Multiculturalism is the fact that people should put aside their ethnicity, but race, religion, and culture are inter-dependent (inter-related / intermingled) so it is not easy to minimize (to put aside) one’s difference. But we should acknowledge (should accept / should recognize) people’s differences.
Team 3   Ethicity Gender Origins Education Opinions   Multiculturalism is the fact that society is composed of different ethnicities, origins, genders, cultures, religions, opinions which are inter-related (interconnected / intermingled). Diversity makes people more close-knit (connected / tuned) and more open-minded (broad-minded).
